Question by Christian T: can I use my Web Cam as a security camera?
Is there a program i can use to have my web cam act as a security camera so when I leave i wont worry about my stuff . I live in a dorm and dont really trust the people around me in the building so I just want to be able to have a safety net just in case something goes missing from my room.

With the right software, you webcam can be a very powerful security device. Pictures can be transferred to an off-site location preventing a thief from deleting them.

I’ve used my external webcam as a security camera once. It was a old logitech camera, I downloaded this software that takes pictures when motion occurs. It didn’t work so well at night since it didn’t have any flash bulb

Yes, there are programs that will save the video to your hard drive whenever change is detected in the scene being viewed, the only trouble is they will probably steal the hard drive.
