Ok what im trying to do is film my deer plot where the deer is coming in its a distance of 1200 feet from the house and i have a ( Wired security Camera ) and i have a 2.4 ghz wireless camera but its distance was 300 feet when i checked it the other day but i dont know if the wired would work 1200 feet or if i could do it 600 feet or do it wireless but regardless is that to far to run 110 cords and do it wireless with a reciever and vcr to record im trying to do this for cheap and stuff i already have any thoughts
could you add a link i cant find that on ebay

I am a long time Alaskan hunter, trapper, military competitions shooters……… and electronics engineer who designs high tech security systems for military, government, and large corporations in Alaska – nothing small. Lucky you, I am a regular here!
1. If you have the proper antenna – you can cover 1200 feet easily!
2. If you need to boost the power of the camera – you can easily do this with a linear 2.4ghz amp found on ebay or any other web site.
A combination of the right antenna and a small linear amp will do the trick – but try a better antenna first. See, most antennas transmit 360 degress, and the receive ant is looking for info 360 degress. These are called omnidirection antennas. If you simply went to a directional antenna on the camera end it would take all that wasted power from 350 degrees and sent it at your home in a concentrated signal. If a directional at the camera does not solve it – put one at the house pointing at the camera, if this does not solve it, then put a pre-amp on the house, then put a linear on the camera.
Although putting a linear on the camera is a sure thing – it eats power. You will need to upgrade the batteries and figure out a way to charge them – perhaps a small solar panel in the future?
You cannot run 110 volt to the site – even with direct bury cable it needs to be 18″ or deeper to protect you and your family.
1200 feet is too long for cable. RG-59 is limited to 400 feet, RG-6 is more expensive and is only guaranteed to work to 600 feet (but I have sucessfullly used it to 900) and RG-11 – a very heavy coax with allot of copper and expense is rated to 1100 feet. RG-11 is 1/2″ in size and would work fine – the 1100 feet rating takes into consideration all the things that can cause interference in a building or industrial application. Going over dirt has no noise. You might get away with RG-6 for that 1200 feet for the same reason – but – the cost would be too much. You would have hell to pay in time and labor to move the cable if you wanted. Where as with a nice antenna you can simply unbolt it and relocate!
With one good antenna at the camera and a better than average one at the house you should be doing great. Antennas are rated in db. All you need to remember is any increase or decrease in db of 3 will double the power, or will cut the power in half. This means a 28db antenna is twice as good as a 25db antenna. It means when you loose -3db for every 100 feet of cable – every hundred feet of cable cuts the signal in half. This is all you need to consider when looking at cables…… and one other thing – any ’splice’ or connector drops the signal by -3db. So, use as few connectors, adapters, and splices as possible!
