next to ur front door lamp so it won’t stand out 2 much, or next to any light outside of ur house. if u have a garage one in there too, one near the back of ur house

Question by korr: making a home surveillance camera with webcam, sd memory and programmable chip and power source?
i was wondering if there are anything similar to what i am looking for?

i want to make a surveillance camera which takes shots and storing them into a sd memory card, and have it programmable to either do motion detection or something similar… along with a way of power source, either outlet or battery source.

i’m just trying to make it simple, without having to run a laptop, or pc that consumes way too much energy. suggestions?

That would be cool.

But since saving images to a file require a processor, an operating system (probably java-based) and internal memory, I don’t say it’s not possible or not existing but all I can say is, it’s probably expensive.

You are going to need a IP network security camera. ValueTechSupply.com – http://www.valuetechsupply.com – sells them with built in web servers. I think this will do the trick. I would call them though because they are the experts. I bought from them a few weeks ago and they knew everything that I asked and it dealt with a complex security system for my small business.
